The latest version, Adobe Illustrator CS5 is the powerful, vector-based image editor. It gives a user a vast array of tools and flexibility. This update is however not for all the users – not every user will benefit from all of the new features.

Most users will take advantage from changes to artboard organization and management, but new capabilities to these features are few.

Adobe Illustrator CS5 can attract a user by new tools for creating and refining images for a wide variety of media and devices.

The Draw Inside and Draw Behind modes are the new powerful features. The Draw Inside automatically creates a mask out of objects you’ve selected. The Draw Behind modes allows you to place new objects “beneath” other objects in the stacking order.

A new artboards panel gives access to all the artboards, created, and adds, deletes, duplicates, names, and reorders them. If you want to use a graphic from one artboard in the same location on several other artboards, you can choose a single menu option and this graphic is copied automatically. This saves a lot of time and makes the work much easier.

The Shape Builder tool allows you to merge multiple objects into a single shape, divide overlapping shapes into multiple objects and delete whole unnecessary areas. The Shape Builder tool makes it possible to choose the colors to fill areas of an artwork.
